Szilvia Kadas is an assistant professor of graphic design and digital media at SUNY Cortland. She also taught design courses at West Virginia University and at the University of Arkansas. Kadas has exhibited her work in various national and international galleries, including the City Gallery, Nyíregyháza, Hungary (2019), M Gallery, Budapest, Hungary (2019), 20th Mini Print International Exhibition, Ithaca, New York (2019), the Art and Art History Department Faculty Biennial, The Dowd Gallery, SUNY Cortland, New York (2019), and the  Old Main Colloquium, SUNY Cortland, New York (2018).

Kadas obtained her PhD in human and community development focusing on sustainability in graphic design at the School of Design and Community Development at West Virginia University (2018) and earned her MFA in graphic design from the University of Arkansas (2011). In addition, Kadas received her MA in art history from West Virginia University (2014). She completed her Bachelor of Design degree in visual communication at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design (2008).

Kadas believes design has social, cultural, and environmental responsibilities beyond its commercial value; therefore, her interdisciplinary work explores the concept of sustainability and the ethical ramifications of design. Kadas aims to contribute to the graphic design field through innovative teaching techniques informed by her theoretical research and socially conscious design practice.
